Harry Craddock is my great-grandfather and was a figure that my family knew little about. As a boy I was immensely curious about this unknown relative who had won medals in World War 1. He volunteered in 1914 and fought in the trenches for over three years, including the Somme and Ypres.
He would have suffered gas warfare, bayonet charges, bombing raids, shell barrages, machine gun fire and witness to the first uses of the tank and the inroduction and development of the fighter plane.
