During my research I found it quite difficult to find out if and where my great-grandfather name was mentioned. Being able to read other people's comments can add to your understanding of the soldier in question. I was also interested in trying to find out who shared Harry's experiences, or if other family members or friends might have joined at the same time, and even those people that might have been present when he died.
To this end, as I came across the names of soldiers that served with the 13th (Service) Battalion of the Durham Light Infantry I noted them down. Later on I started to record where I read about them and other information that might be considered relevant.
